Our films, training, and community initiatives spark that understanding. ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/pFOnb96mBKKy2QNA8iOoCOPhgA.jpg?width=2688&height=1792) There are people and experiences behind every issue that the world chooses to ignore. **Room to Care** was born from a very simple idea, that when we open our eyes and see these experiences, we can create space for understanding and empathy. Our passion is telling stories that, we believe, are more than just awareness, they are a gateway from experience into action. Through filming initiatives, education, and survival storytelling, we explore complex issues and create a gateway for others to care enough to act. Our inaugural project, _Through Their Eyes_, reveals the secret world of human trafficking, but it is just the tip of the iceberg. At _Room to Care_, we exist because there are stories that can’t remain untold and because it is a reminder that compassion is not a privilege, but an obligation. ## Our First Story Begins Here Through Their Eyes: The True Cost of Silence Behind Human Trafficking is the first program of Room To Care, and it is an immersive storytelling and training experience that shows just what human trafficking truly looks like, and how it can be identified. By presenting gripping survivor stories, authoritative expertise, and compelling narratives, this program gives its viewers firsthand encounters with the secret truths that are occurring in their own communities. Sometimes all it takes is one story told with honesty to change how the world sees.” — _Scott Burch, Founder & Executive Director_ ![two people looking at a tablet and smiling](https://framerusercontent.com/images/FZRsDfdKRVe8draAZiEf6bIHQ.jpeg?width=1984&height=2400) ## Educate Our projects aim at creating immersed and story-based experiences that educate people and organizations on human issues. Every story is an educational tool, one that changes perspectives and develops empathy ![husband and wife working happily on a laptop](https://framerusercontent.com/images/O2SR4jq3gYf8vc1oYiTZQKU45U.jpeg?width=992&height=1200) ## Empower We amplify genuine voices of survival, expertise, and advocacy, all of whom shed light on truths that need to be surfaced. By empowering people directly affected, we can be assured that all messages have roots in experience. ![person writing on a piece of paper ](https://framerusercontent.com/images/pjQYbrnPoPa3vXFQjPKXLX36n0.jpg?width=1984&height=2400) ## Inspire Our aim is not only awareness, but action. Inspire people to view and feel differently, and take meaningful steps towards lasting changes. With this emotional connection, we will stay within your mind and hearts, long after this program has ended. ## Stay Connected. Be Part of the Change. Our mission is to help people translate empathy into actions by raising awareness and connecting people and organizations with issues that remain hidden, and we're kicking this off through our flagship initiative, Through Their Eyes, addressing human trafficking issues.** **Is Room To Care a registered nonprofit organization?** **Room to Care, Inc is a Texas nonprofit organization that is in the process of becoming a designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the IRS. This process ensures transparency and accountability in how we handle funding, partnerships, and community impact. During this transition, all contributions directly support program development, expert collaborations, and survivor partnerships.** **How is Room To Care different from other awareness campaigns?** **By and large, most awareness campaigns end at education—we take it further. Our program, Through Their Eyes, weaves together elements of storytelling, survivor testimony, and formal education into cinematic experiences that aim to drive home an understanding and actionable response. Our efforts enable people not only to care but to know what they can do about it, too.** **Will the programs Room To Care make be available for free?** **Our aim is accessibility for all. Some of our content, especially awareness-related content and survivor experiences, would be freely available to all members of the public. However, larger educational content would often be licensed by organizations and businesses, thereby providing us revenue that would help us create more content that has a lasting impact, and ultimately helps to support some of these survivors that we feature or highlight in our content as well. Every paid partnership enables us to have free content on our platform.** **How can I get involved or support Room To Care?** **There are many ways that you can help us and get involved, whether that be through donations, sponsorship, offering your expertise, or just spreading awareness of our mission. You can stay up-to-date on all of our projects and ways that you can get involved by reading our updates or contacting us today!** ## Room to Care Overview https://roomtocare.com/https://roomtocare.com/aboutushttps://roomtocare.com/ourboardhttps://roomtocare.com/ourprogramshttps://roomtocare.com/fundinghttps://roomtocare.com/contacthttps://roomtocare.com/donatehttps://roomtocare.com/ourimpacthttps://roomtocare.com/sponsorshttps://roomtocare.com/updateshttps://roomtocare.com/updates/a-new-chapter-for-room-to-carehttps://roomtocare.com/updates/our-new-website-our-promise-and-what-comes-nexthttps://roomtocare.com/updates/the-true-cost-of-educationhttps://roomtocare.com/updates/finding-our-way-back-a-three-month-update ## Connect with Room to Care ##### At Room to Care, every partnership, every story, every conversation brings us closer to a world founded on empathy. ##### If you'd like to reach out, know that we're here to listen. ## Connect with Us! _Whether you'd like to work together, share your story, partner with us, or simply have a question, you are welcome here. Room To Care came from individual actions. Every person who started a move that became Room To Care saw suffering, injustice, or silence and decided to make a move. Some came forward offering their time. Some people showed their support in practical ways. Some people contributed money when every penny mattered. Every single one of these actions brought about a real difference. And you can join in. Room to Care originated with a simple concept: empathy can be taught, and education should engage the heart as much as it does the mind. Our founder, Scott Burch, spent several years working in corporate education and creative development on training programs that helped individuals build connections, develop, and lead. However, after working on human trafficking awareness for Motel 6, something changed. This work revealed the power of human stories and how a message could change behaviors not based on fear or data but on empathy. That was a transformative experience, which he had a firsthand realization that although businesses will invest in skill-building, they hardly invest in empathy-building, which is what is needed in this world. From this awakening, Room to Care was conceptualized with a goal to establish a non-profit that would design education-oriented story-telling projects to engage and motivate individuals to respond in a different manner, planting the first seeds for bringing this vision to fruition. Of course, it began with one individual working late nights and weekends trying to juggle a family and this ever-growing dream for this new programming opportunity that might change how individuals tackle difficult societal issues. From this one programming opportunity, Through Their Eyes blossomed into a seedling for something much bigger: a movement to humanize training, revamp awareness, and provide a voice for victims and advocates. ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/0UrwFvFQwzP35WF2SaBcb2iELw.jpeg?width=4032&height=3024) ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/ZwkPuGraNucHwiTDK2UWWQCfj3o.jpg?width=1820&height=1024) Fast forward to 2025, and this vision was finally realized in the official formation of an organization. Scott is now starting to build his Board of Directors with a team of individuals who are professionals, experts, and supporters all with the same belief—that compassion should inform how we educate and lead. They worked collectively to develop Room to Care into what it is today, a nonprofit working on producing story-centered programs that translate empathy into actions on various issues affecting mankind such as trafficking, abuse, and work-related issues. Room to Care is built on experience, expertise, and a deep conviction that the only way to combat indifference is through understanding. Our story begins with one individual's call, but it is now a journey we all share. Room to Care is powered by collaboration, compassion, and a determination to see caring become the rule, not the exception. ## The Power of "We" Every movement begins with one voice. But lasting change only happens when others join in. ![team workspace with people working](https://framerusercontent.com/images/yznnHNXQqtjVve6z77AYzKy08.jpg?width=2688&height=1792) Each movement begins with one voice. Change only unfolds if other voices weave together with the first one. Room to Care may be the initial vision of one individual, but it has expanded through collaboration – through the belief that if empathy is encouraged among many, it will be an incredibly powerful transformation engine. But today, our mission is carried forward in a way that is fueled by an increasing number of people who care deeply about it: our Board of Directors, who bring us experience and wisdom; our creative partners who help us turn vision into visual storytelling; and our experts and survivors who bring truth and courage to every story we tell. Everyone has a role in something bigger, proving that compassion multiplies when shared. Together, we’ve built more than an organization; instead, we’ve built a sense of community that is centered in trust, transparency, and heart. We each come from different backgrounds – education & hospitality, healthcare, media and storytelling, and the world of survivors – but our intentions are the same: to build a space ‘where stories lead to understanding, understanding leads to action, and action leads to change’. The strength of Room to Care lies not with one thought or one individual. It lies within us. Within people who know that caring is anything but weakness; it is leadership. ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/i0TfL9TDlHE4GvUKb39a6xR1u8.jpg?width=2400&height=1600) ## From the Heart of Room To Care When I started designing learning initiatives 15+ years ago, I certainly didn’t see myself here today, with the mission to start this nonprofit that exists wholly on the principles of empathy and compassion for others. But somewhere down the line, after designing training programs for the corporate world time and time again, something struck me; we are living in a world that has trained people to do something, but not to understand each other. But that insight didn't feel right to me. The more projects I got to work on that addressed real issues people cared about (particularly the work with Motel 6 about raising awareness surrounding human trafficking), the more difficult it was to compartmentalize and separate my job from my feelings. It became clear that understanding what someone else was going through was incredibly powerful when people really got it. Rather than going back to corporate America, I made a choice. I wanted to build something that was more important to me than numbers and results. Something that would allow me to use creativity, education, and storytelling in such a way that compassion becomes part of how we work, lead, and live. That’s how Room to Care was born. Each story that gets shared with someone, each program that gets designed, each conversation that gets started has one belief as its roots. Empathy must never be optional. This project has been so personal to me because I’ve seen what can happen if there is no empathy… and what can be possible if there isn’t. Thank you for believing in this mission, in the value of care, and for helping to build a world with a little more room for understanding. Scott Burch _Founder & Executive Director, Room to Care_ ## What We Do Room to Care provides story-based education that builds connections between hearts and minds. We don't just make learning content; instead, we build experiences that people retain with them even after the learning process is over. Through storytelling, expertise, and collaboration with survivors, we create experiences that engage with challenging truths about the human condition and mobilize people to take action and connect with each other. The intersection of education and emotional experiences, because learning should be a call to action, not an imposition. ## Our projects include: ###### Cinematic Training Programs Emotionally immersive learning experiences crafted with the care of a documentary and the soul of a conversation. ###### Industry-Specific Modules Modules that provide industry-specific content to hospitality, healthcare providers, education institutions, and transportation services. These enable teams to understand and respond to the needs that exist within these industries and among ###### Collaborative Storytelling Working with survivors, advocates, and professionals to use storytelling responsibly to increase awareness about prevention. ###### Organizational Partnerships & Training Initiatives Collaboration with companies, non-profit groups, and other organizations to organize training sessions that are based on empathy to improve understanding and cultural responsibility. Everything that we make has one thing in common. To remind people that compassion is something that is not a luxury but a responsibility. ## Our Core Values These are the principles that every story we tell and every partnership that we build is founded upon. ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/U42t3an14sG7UPHFYuvyWaVlvr8.jpeg?width=1856&height=2464) ##### Empathy We come to every project with the intention to see the world from someone else’s perspective. Understanding drives change, and change drives understanding. ##### Integrity Every story that gets shared, every survivor that gets supported, deserves respect. We prioritize truth over convenience and dignity over drama. ##### Education Knowledge teaches; however, emotional engagement transforms learning. At our company, our projects combine knowhow with emotional insights to ensure learning has meaning. ##### Collaboration We believe in partnering with others, rather than working for them. Partnering with others means that every project is authentic and affirming of our shared humanity. ##### Hope Hard stories need light. We believe that awareness must lead to empowerment and that despair is no destination. Hope is the bridge that spans pain to purpose. At the heart of Room to Care is the idea that every story, no matter how painful, holds the potential for something better. We use storytelling to awaken rather than to shock. We use storytelling to enlighten rather than to exploit. What we do is to bridge the gap that exists between understanding and action. The problem with awareness is that it rings hollow without empathy. What we are creating has the potential to impact how people look at each other and to make compassion more practical. Each frame, each word, each moment is designed with connectivity in mind—to the end that someone might pause, consider, and then note, “I never realized that… but now I do.” This is the essence of what we do – the use of our storytelling abilities to remind the world that caring is not something that you feel; it is something that you do. ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/lZDeUdvsjGOwZf2nCofiJ6784M.jpg?width=3130&height=2322) ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/9ivkRZKgOzCQbXJFDLzE2XmzoDI.jpeg?width=106&height=106) ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/fTCmbyMFZACI5HEGOHGR69S3Moc.jpeg?width=800&height=800) ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/MED2gEPhktUMeBHS0ZJtpYQ4yns.jpeg?width=800&height=800) ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/qbwZaPl2sl2l0s4An56aPq7yE.jpeg?width=500&height=500) ## Join Us in Marking Room To Care The world doesn't change because people know more; it changes because people care more. It’s about responsibility, reflection, and building something worthy of trust. Thank you for caring enough to look closer. ## Empathy-Based Funding ### Why we need your help Room to Care was founded around a simple principle: the power of empathy can change everything. However, a real education, one that reaches both hearts and minds, is a process that takes time and investment. ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/kwOF5nKerEkfa1I207d9xKv4zRs.png?width=1063&height=1069) victims of trafficking, abuse, or labor exploitation remain hidden around the world; but we can make a difference, all of us together. ### More than 50 Million ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/ApnTtvbWOaBOT6AuLk1zO7QPFoQ.png?width=512&height=256) ## Their Stories. Your Impact When you donate to Room to Care, you are funding far more than a single story – you are funding an entire platform of compassionate education. Your support empowers us to: ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/idujoQPPm01AtWlbQwA742lze6Q.png?width=765&height=1295) #### 01 #### Expand Empathy-Based Education Supports the development of new, narrative-based learning experiences, beyond Through Their Eyes, to address critical issues including human trafficking, domestic violence, workplace harassment, and the role of compassion in leadership, among others, through collaboration among survivors and subject matter expertise mixed with cinematic storytelling. #### 02 #### Strengthen Survivor Partnerships Work directly with survivors, advocates, and trauma-informed professionals to handle every story we tell with care, authenticity, and dignity. They, with this funding, get adequate compensation, travel support, and care as they relate their tales of courage. Each one of the survivors we partner with informs the content we create that educates, heals, and protects others from exploitation. #### 03 #### Reaching Communities That Need It Most Offer training services at reduced or no cost to schools, shelters, and small organizations that are unable to access quality awareness programs. Through nonprofit collaborations and grant-based outreach, we bring life-changing education to frontline workers, teachers, and caregivers, driving change from Awareness to Local Impact, where it counts the most. #### 04 #### Building Sustainable Change Through Collaboration Build the infrastructure that keeps compassion in motion by providing access to nonprofit partnerships, professional certifications, and other tools that enable our programs to remain relevant around the world for many years to come. Every story we tell, every life we touch, and every moment of understanding begins with people like you. ### The Development Cost Building an empathy-based education on this scale, rather than just making a movie or an online training series, is the starting point of a “movement.” The mission at “Room to Care” involves much more than passion – it involves infrastructure, technology, and sustainability. Every program we create, every program we build, involves a complete production process, from research to collaboration with survivors, to professional filmmaking, to instruction, to translation, to licensing around the world. Every dollar we can generate supports the systems, people, and tools that make our work possible. It's all about permanence, not production or profits. The development budget we envision to create Through Their Eyes and the next generation of Room to Care projects will be approximately $2.14 million, providing funding that will allow every story to be shared with truth, care, and reach. $2.14M Total Est. Start Up Cost Yes. You read that correctly. Yes. it's a really large and aggressive amount to ask anyone, let alone expect to actually bring in for this program. However, this is not the standard off of the shelf type of course we're developing. We're building the foundation that will lead to more awareness, understanding, and empathy towards those stuck in trafficking. $2.14M US Development0%$30K Research & Consultants0%$80K International Development0%$141K Certifications & CEUs0%$155K Technolgy & Tools0%$179K Production Cost0%$255K Design & Media0%$400K Operations & Admin0%$945K Operations & Admin $945K \| 39.9% Supports 12–18 months of basic nonprofit operations: salaries for key leadership (Creative Director, Executive Director), legal formation, insurance, audit compliance, accounting, internal training, and donor reporting systems. We also believe no one should be exploited during the development of coursework, which is why we have established and follow our core commitments. #### Survivors All survivor and advocate participants are treated with respect, and will be given the option for compensation for their time and contributions. #### Human First We prioritize human voices, creativity, and experience, but we will responsibly integrate AI for speed and cost-efficiency with a Human First approach. #### Transparency Upon funding, our Nonprofit (Room To Care) will maintain detailed financial reporting and transparency standards, in addition to providing project updates along the way. #### Longterm We are building this program for long-term use, not a one-time launch. This program, among other content listed for future release, will continue to receive updates to follow new laws, regulations, and stories from survivors and experts. ## Frequently Asked Questions If you have any other questions, please email us. #### Funding Questions ###### How is Room To Care being funded? We rely on a mix of individual donations (coming soon), grants, corporate partnerships, and sponsorships. ###### Are donations tax-deductible? Once we open up individual donation acceptance, yes. We are in the process of registering Room To Care as a 501(c) 3 nonprofit status. Donations at that point will be tax-deductible in the U.S. as allowed by law. ###### How will you ensure funds are used appropriately? We believe in being transparent, which including where the money is being spent. In order to maintain this level of openness, we will keep detailed financial records which will be available upon request. ###### Why raise money over selling the final product? We can either fund everything ourselves and rely on selling the program to recover the initial investment and hope we can continue developing additional content, or we can do everything we can to ensure the content is developed with the intent to distribute for free. We like providing access to the course on our website for free, which will avoid keeping the program hidden behind a paywall. ###### How can we see the impact of any donation, grant, or partnership? We will be providing regular updates through blog and video updates, including reports, highlighting program milestones, survivor stories, and financial summaries. ###### When you say 'free' access, is it truly free? Our goal from the very beginning has been to build training programs that tackle tough topics with empathy and compassion for all those involved, starting with Human Trafficking. That goal includes offering it to the public 100% free, via our website. We will be able to offer paid licensing opportunities to companies and other organizations who wish to host the program on their own training platforms. This includes offering customized branding solutions as a paid optional feature. #### General Questions ###### What's the difference between Through Their Eyes and Room To Care? Room To Care is the (soon to be) nonprofit organization building impactful educational courses, starting with the Through Their Eyes program. In order to ensure copyright and licensing is handled legally and properly, we needed to form a new organization to handle all of the official business. ###### How can I verify your nonprofit status? Once we complete the 501(c) 3 nonprofit registration, you'll be able to confirm our status through the IRS Exempt Organization database or by requesting our IRS determination letter. ###### Who oversees your operations? Our amazing Board of Directors & Advisory Council, which will always be comprised of experts in human rights, nonprofit management, legal counsel, education professionals, and survivor advocacy, guide our mission and ensure accountability. ###### How many employees work for Room To Care? Not as many as we need nor would love to have. Until we are fully funded, Room To Care is made up of passionate individuals who are putting everything together without compensation, and the founder (Scott Burch) has been handling all of the business expenses to-date. ###### Will you create everything in-house, outsource, or a mixture of the two? We would love to fully develop everything in-house, but we know that's not realistic at the moment. We will have to rely on outside support from different individuals, organizations, and with the use of AI tools. ###### Will you rely on AI for creative content or stick with human only content? We take a Human First approach to content development, but in order to maintain expenses and timelines, we will have to utilize AI for various aspects of this program. ###### Are you open to colunteer work or contribute in other way Absolutely! We welcome volunteers for outreach, survivor/advoicate connections, content development, and fundraising. Please reach out to learn more about current opportunities. ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/2dYAzfPued1YXsv9C9uqVBn3I.jpeg?width=5824&height=3264) ## Help Make A Difference What we build here isn’t just content to check a box. It's connection. It is the voice of a survivor finally being heard. It's a child growing up in a world that understands, even before it judges. It's an individual experiencing, perhaps for the first time, that caring isn't a sign of weakness – it's a sign of strength. Such work is a process that involves time, passion, as well as far more faith than one sees or often experiences in their lifetime. It is, however, worth all the sleepless nights, all the tough tales, and all the dollars that go toward bringing light into dark corners. Your support makes that light possible. It transforms pain into purpose. It puts a face to hope, a home to compassion. If you’ve made it this far, you already care. Empathy is only powerful when it moves. And right now, someone’s waiting for that movement to reach them. [**Contact Us**\\ \\ If you'd like to get involved or learn more about our mission, please reach out to us today. With our 501(c)(3) paperwork underway and the formation of our first Board of Directors, we are stepping into a new chapter with purpose and excitement. Here is what has happened since our last update and where we are heading next. Dec 8, 2025 2 weeks ago ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/p6mWJTqP5tqPKKsDMn55grzYlns.jpg?width=1920&height=1080) So today, I look forward to being able to share two pieces of news that aren’t merely exciting but also very defining. A great deal of change continues to occur in the background. Putting the site up was the mere starting point! To begin, a simple but very significant update to your favorite new nonprofit. Room To Care LLC no longer exists. We have been transformed into the official Room To Care, Inc. The State of Texas approved our switch to a non-profit one. Even that change took longer than we thought... which has made it feel like we've had to climb the hill sideways. Now we can move forward to the last step to in our transition from LLC to Nonprofit. Our paperwork has been sent to the IRS for the purposes of obtaining 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Every business takes a different amount of time to receive its determination letter. Some have their determination letter in about twenty-two days. Some may wait a few months. Some may even wait longer. But we cannot wait for the IRS to act. We need to remain optimistic. That is our hope: to have our determination letter before the year closes. For people familiar with the law that governs nonprofits, you already have a sense of where all of this is going. A nonprofit cannot be structured the same way that a business can. There needs to be some oversight, some shared leadership. There needs to be some challenge to the leadership to keep them in check. Which brings me to the second thing. Room To Care now has a board of directors! The board, currently small with plans to grow, are the exact people that we need in place in order to have the next step succeed. These individuals who believe in the vision of the next step, are passionate and are putting in the groundwork to make this dream a reality. I would also like to personally introduce you to the first members of the board. Please allow me to do this in a more human way. Every person in the room has a story to tell and a connection I value. These are the people who are going to be the guides of the future of Room To Care. I am thankful for all of them. ### The Board of Directors ##### **Stan Welch** **Role:** Secretary ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/VT0hRJ8WozpAG3YVkRbJWr2ppE.jpeg) **Bio:** Stan brings decades of experience leading teams in asset protection, safety, operations and corporate security in retail and hospitality. We look forward to rolling out our Advisory Board shortly. This group of individuals will be critical in our effort to build momentum and keep us connected with our vision. This list is beginning to come together, and I look forward to sharing this with you early next year. Above all, I hope Room To Care remains a welcoming doorway. You will continue to hear about developments via this site. The Through Their Eyes site will continue to be where you want to go for news about our first project tackling Human Trafficking, along with more behind the scenes moments when we start filming with our experts and survivors. We are moving toward 2026 with a vision for growth. This process of content creation isn’t only about reaching our vision but about fostering a mission-oriented institution. Thank you for being with us. Thank you for your belief in this vision. The transformation of Room To Care has taken time, but we are finally getting where we need to be. I am more excited about this today than I have ever been. ##### Read more ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/Q9VPqdAzA2RQLQcTiKRhq2Lx5s.png?width=1920&height=1080) **Our New Website, Our Promise, And What Comes Next** Our new Room To Care website is live. This space will share open and honest updates about our growth as a nonprofit, while the Through Their Eyes site will continue covering project specific progress. We are committed to transparency, consistent communication, and keeping you connected to the work we are building together. Nov 14, 2025 1 month ago ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/Q9VPqdAzA2RQLQcTiKRhq2Lx5s.png?width=1920&height=1080) The launch of the Room To Care site is akin to turning the key and opening the front door to a house that I’ve been constructing behind the scenes all these years. This one is straightforward and direct and accurately depicts the kind of organization that is emerging. This site represents much more than a series of pages. It represents a way of ensuring that you are a part of the process and seeing the work evolve. The work of building Room to Care has never been a straight line. There are days when we walk with purpose and intention. And then there are days when we trip over our own two feet and land face first into unexpected dilemmas. Regardless of the line that is drawn, I never want the work of reaching these children and adolescents to be behind a curtain. And so, as the organization continues to evolve into a completely respected and legitimized nonprofit, I'll be posting updates here. The good and the not-so-good. At the same time, the project sites themselves will also be living their own lives. The Through Their Eyes website will contain project updates that are strictly related to that project alone. The survivor interviews, the collaborations that will be done with the experts, the progress that will be made, and so on and so forth related to that program will be kept on the Through Their Eyes site. Room To Care, however, will look at the bigger picture. Think of it this way. _Through Their Eyes_ is the story that we are telling. _Room To Care_ is the place where we share the reasons for the telling of the story and the people that are helping us tell it and the ways that we are ensuring that this mission continues. This new site is a promise. Of staying open, of speaking candidly, and of offering a home that provides visibility into what we are creating and why it matters. As I look forward to the future, I hope that this site becomes a welcome place at the table. Thanks for being with us. Thanks for caring. And thanks for staying with us while we become the kind of organization that we are meant to be. ##### Read more ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/Q9VPqdAzA2RQLQcTiKRhq2Lx5s.png?width=1920&height=1080) **Our New Website, Our Promise, And What Comes Next** Our new Room To Care website is live. Jun 30, 2025 5 months ago ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/WHnuE8KwJuySoKXhSekZeMyfs.jpg?width=2500&height=1080) # Why Room To Care's $2M Goal Isn't Just Reasonable, It's Necessary. How much should it cost to teach someone how to recognize human trafficking? Or give a survivor the tools to speak their truth without shame or fear? These aren’t just deep, philosophical questions. They’re practical ones I had to sit with the moment I decided to build _Room To Care_. And now that we’re asking for support, I know what you’re probably wondering. Why two million dollars? Fair question. Here’s the thing. Room To Care isn’t some polished, buzzword-heavy nonprofit with a team of marketers and a pile of grants. We haven’t even filed our 501(c)(3) yet. Not because we’re not serious, but because I’ve been doing the actual work first. Laying the foundation. Writing. Planning. Editing. Interviewing. All while working full-time, raising my son, and trying not to burn out. Our first major project is called _Through Their Eyes_. It’s not just a “training video.” It’s a fully built educational experience. Survivor-led. Expert-supported. Built with trauma-informed design, real film production, and interactive elements that actually keep people engaged. Because honestly, if you’ve ever sat through a corporate training, you know how forgettable most of them are. This one isn’t meant to be forgotten. Right now, it’s just me doing all the heavy lifting. But I’m not doing it alone. We’ve got advocates, legal advisors, trauma specialists, healthcare professionals, and educators stepping in to help. You can meet them here: [throughtheireyes.co/ourexperts](https://throughtheireyes.co/ourexperts) And yes, we’re asking for over two million dollars. But not to waste it. Not for cushy salaries or overpriced offices. This money goes toward building something real. Something that can be used across industries. From hospitals to hotels to classrooms, to helping people actually understand the signs of trafficking and know what to do when they see it. This is just the beginning. Human trafficking is our starting point, but we’re also preparing for what comes next: programs on domestic violence, harassment in the workplace, addiction recovery, and real-world DEI education. Room To Care isn’t a side project. It’s the start of something much bigger. A way to make room for the hard stuff and the stories that don’t get told, the voices that are too often ignored. This isn’t about charity. It’s about responsibility. And building a future where care isn't just something we talk about, but something we practice. ## It costs how much? ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/NNGQ9fgYJjipk7ZEjktfQlX9XZE.jpeg) So what does $2 million buy? It’s not glamour. It’s cameras, editing, trauma consultants, legal review, SCORM integration, health insurance, voiceover actors, data storage, multi-language translation, CEU accreditation, and state-by-state compliance reviews. We’ve already broken this down in detail at throughtheireyes.co/funding, but here’s the short version: \- $470,000+ for production and filming in multiple states \- $150,000+ for translations, voiceovers, and localization \- $250,000+ for legal, CEU certification, and compliance in the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, Australia, Asia, and Latin America \- $300,000+ for platform development and AI-enhanced interactive training tools \- $400,000+ for salaries, insurance, hardware, data storage, and ongoing support \- And the rest for outreach, storytelling, and keeping operations running ## A little context ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/G8n24tnfbhiONVvAwxTXAVHfeow.jpeg) For context, Thorn, another organization combating online child exploitation, raised over $9M in 2020 alone. Polaris’s annual budget is well over $10M. These are massive operations. We’re not trying to match them. We’re just building the foundation. But even then, a single short documentary from a national nonprofit can easily cost $250K. A single eLearning module with voiceover, translation, and legal clearance? Upward of $75K. We’re making a whole series. On a fraction of the budget. Through Their Eyes is just the beginning. Room To Care will grow into a platform for immersive, emotional, and honest education on the topics too many people avoid. Think training that helps you spot domestic abuse, advocate for mental health access, or understand your rights in the workplace. Think interactive scenarios built with empathy. That’s the vision, and this first project gets us there. If you’ve made it this far, thank you. You care. And now we need you to act. You can donate, share the story, or connect us to someone who can help. You can advocate for this content to be required in your workplace, your industry, your city. And if you need more information, visit throughtheireyes.co/timeline or reach out. The stories we’re telling don’t belong behind closed doors anymore. Help us open them. ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/rCJnGBd63KXnO5oqwaJNIcA2a4.jpeg) If you’ve made it this far, thank you. You’re part of this with us. And we need you. We need people who care. People who talk about this even when it’s not easy. People who understand that silence only helps traffickers. This isn’t just about our program. It’s about the thousands of people still waiting for someone to see them. Let’s make sure they don’t have to wait any longer. ⸻ **Sources and References** Costs of Documentary & Educational Content Production Center for Media & Social Impact – “Documentary Economics” Report: https://cmsimpact.org/report/documentary-economics/ Video Production Cost Guides – Wistia / StudioBinder / Lemonlight: Average 5–10 minute branded documentary: $30K–$100K. eLearning course with interactivity and VO: $40K–$80K per module. Life has a way of testing how much we believe in what we’re building, and lately, it’s tested me more than ever. From losing my job to watching funding opportunities disappear, I’ve had to pause, reflect, and figure out how to keep going. This post isn’t just a catch-up — it’s a look at where things stand, how I’m finding my footing again, and where Room To Care is headed next. Oct 28, 2025 1 month ago ![Green Fern](https://framerusercontent.com/images/4qOmmDZaYuNSocCOaTDWnrvUPY.jpg?width=2500&height=1080) # Where to start... It’s been a while since I’ve written one of these updates, and to be honest, it wasn’t because I didn’t want to. It’s because life hit hard. The past three months have been filled with moments that tested my patience, my confidence, and my faith in what I’m building here with **Room To Care**. If you’ve been following along, you’ve probably noticed the momentum seemed to slow down. Things got quiet. The truth is, that silence came from a mix of exhaustion and survival. I lost my job earlier this summer, and that role had been the main source of income fueling everything behind the scenes. The filming, the research, the website, the outreach. All of it. Losing that stability was like having the rug pulled out from under me. Since then, the job market has been… brutal. I’ve had interviews that went through three or four rounds only to end in ghosting. Other opportunities that looked promising were suddenly “put on hold” as the U.S. market continued to decline. It’s been frustrating, draining, and at times, deeply discouraging. I wish I could say I handled it all with perfect grace, but the truth is, the anxiety and depression that came with that uncertainty were real. There were days when it was hard to even open my computer, let alone focus on the mission I’ve poured my heart into. But here’s the thing. I still believe in **Room To Care**. And I still believe in _Through Their Eyes_. That belief didn’t go away, even on the hardest days. It just needed time to breathe again. Over the past few weeks, I’ve started meeting with people who remind me why this work matters. People who still see the same potential I saw when this journey began. That spark of hope, that quiet sense of “maybe we can still do this,” has slowly come back to life. One of those people is my cousin, who has spent her career working in nonprofits, advocating for those who often have no one fighting for them. She has been helping me rediscover the pathways forward, especially when it comes to funding and building a stronger foundation for the organization. Because of that, I’m taking the next big step. **Room To Care LLC is officially converting into a fully recognized nonprofit organization.** This has always been the goal, but now it’s finally happening. It’s time for **Room To Care** to grow beyond me, and become something that belongs to a community of people who care just as deeply. To do that, I need help. We’re forming our first official **Board of Directors**, and we need to fill two key roles in order to file: **Secretary** and **Treasurer**. These aren’t just titles. They’re positions of trust, guidance, and accountability that will help shape what **Room To Care** becomes. Beyond that, I’m also building an **Advisory Board** — a group of compassionate, experienced individuals who can help guide us through this process, open doors, and connect us to others who believe in what we’re doing. Whether your experience is in nonprofits, education, storytelling, social work, or simply being a passionate advocate for change, I’d love to hear from you. If you know someone who might be a good fit for either the Board of Directors or the Advisory Board, please reach out. Send a message to info@RoomToCare.com. Make an introduction. Share this post. Every bit of support helps us find the right people to lead Room To Care into its next chapter. We may have fallen off track these past few months, but we are not giving up. The mission still stands. The vision still matters. _Through Their Eyes_ will happen, and Room To Care will continue creating spaces for truth, empathy, and change. This is just the next chapter. One that starts with honesty, community, and the reminder that sometimes progress looks like standing back up after a long fall. Thank you to everyone who’s continued to believe in this work, even in the quiet moments. We’re finding our way back, one step at a time. — **Devon Burch** Founder & Executive Director **Room To Care** ##### Read more ![](https://framerusercontent.com/images/Q9VPqdAzA2RQLQcTiKRhq2Lx5s.png?width=1920&height=1080) **Our New Website, Our Promise, And What Comes Next** Our new Room To Care website is live.
