A New Chapter for Room To Care

Room To Care has officially transitioned into a nonprofit organization. With our 501(c)(3) paperwork underway and the formation of our first Board of Directors, we are stepping into a new chapter with purpose and excitement. Here is what has happened since our last update and where we are heading next.

So today, I look forward to being able to share two pieces of news that aren’t merely exciting but also very defining. A great deal of change continues to occur in the background. Putting the site up was the mere starting point!

To begin, a simple but very significant update to your favorite new nonprofit. Room To Care LLC no longer exists. We have been transformed into the official Room To Care, Inc. The State of Texas approved our switch to a non-profit one. Even that change took longer than we thought... which has made it feel like we've had to climb the hill sideways.

Now we can move forward to the last step to in our transition from LLC to Nonprofit. Our paperwork has been sent to the IRS for the purposes of obtaining 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Every business takes a different amount of time to receive its determination letter. Some have their determination letter in about twenty-two days. Some may wait a few months. Some may even wait longer. But we cannot wait for the IRS to act. We need to remain optimistic. That is our hope: to have our determination letter before the year closes.

For people familiar with the law that governs nonprofits, you already have a sense of where all of this is going. A nonprofit cannot be structured the same way that a business can. There needs to be some oversight, some shared leadership. There needs to be some challenge to the leadership to keep them in check. Which brings me to the second thing. Room To Care now has a board of directors! The board, currently small with plans to grow, are the exact people that we need in place in order to have the next step succeed. These individuals who believe in the vision of the next step, are passionate and are putting in the groundwork to make this dream a reality. I would also like to personally introduce you to the first members of the board. Please allow me to do this in a more human way. Every person in the room has a story to tell and a connection I value. These are the people who are going to be the guides of the future of Room To Care. I am thankful for all of them.


The Board of Directors


Stan Welch

Role: Secretary

Bio:

Stan brings decades of experience leading teams in asset protection, safety, operations and corporate security in retail and hospitality. In his most recent role with G6 Hospitality (parent company of Motel 6 and Studio 6) he played a key role in the company's commitment to safety, including its anti-human trafficking efforts. He has a strong belief in leveraging technology and training to improve operations and execution. He has participated on panels, speaking engagements and at conferences discussing anti-human trafficking efforts. His extensive professional background encompassess his lifelong commitment mentoring teams, doing the right thing and making ethical choices. As Board Secretary for Room to Care, Stan encourages the entire organization to function with purpose.


Kristine Glaser

Role: Treasurer

Bio:

Kristine is a Certified Public Accountant with significant experience in the nonprofit sector, corporate accounting and internal audit. She is admired for her accuracy, integrity, and compassion-based work ethic to ensure that Room to Care adheres to prudent management and development. The accountant believes that “numbers also tell stories,” and she applies this tenet to all organizational missions.


Eva Baker

Role: Director of Outreach & Development

Bio:

Eva brings a unique combination of strategic acumen, compassion, and unending passion for making the world a better place. She brings extensive experience from her past assignments at UNTHSC and World Relief to her work at Room To Care. She's highly driven and empathetic, and is recognized for rolling up her sleeves and delivering complex program management, partnership development, and helping to bring clarity where it is needed most. Room to Care is just one fortunate organization to have her and to help us on our journey.


What Comes Next

The pace of our work remains strong, and in many respects, we are finally beginning to see the shape of everything we have been building. We look forward to rolling out our Advisory Board shortly. This group of individuals will be critical in our effort to build momentum and keep us connected with our vision. This list is beginning to come together, and I look forward to sharing this with you early next year.

Above all, I hope Room To Care remains a welcoming doorway. You will continue to hear about developments via this site. The Through Their Eyes site will continue to be where you want to go for news about our first project tackling Human Trafficking, along with more behind the scenes moments when we start filming with our experts and survivors. We are moving toward 2026 with a vision for growth. This process of content creation isn’t only about reaching our vision but about fostering a mission-oriented institution.

Thank you for being with us. Thank you for your belief in this vision. The transformation of Room To Care has taken time, but we are finally getting where we need to be. I am more excited about this today than I have ever been.

The True Cost of Education
