The launch of the Room To Care site is akin to turning the key and opening the front door to a house that I’ve been constructing behind the scenes all these years. This one is straightforward and direct and accurately depicts the kind of organization that is emerging. This site represents much more than a series of pages. It represents a way of ensuring that you are a part of the process and seeing the work evolve.
The work of building Room to Care has never been a straight line. There are days when we walk with purpose and intention. And then there are days when we trip over our own two feet and land face first into unexpected dilemmas. Regardless of the line that is drawn, I never want the work of reaching these children and adolescents to be behind a curtain. And so, as the organization continues to evolve into a completely respected and legitimized nonprofit, I'll be posting updates here. The good and the not-so-good.
At the same time, the project sites themselves will also be living their own lives. The Through Their Eyes website will contain project updates that are strictly related to that project alone. The survivor interviews, the collaborations that will be done with the experts, the progress that will be made, and so on and so forth related to that program will be kept on the Through Their Eyes site. Room To Care, however, will look at the bigger picture.
Think of it this way. Through Their Eyes is the story that we are telling. Room To Care is the place where we share the reasons for the telling of the story and the people that are helping us tell it and the ways that we are ensuring that this mission continues.
This new site is a promise. Of staying open, of speaking candidly, and of offering a home that provides visibility into what we are creating and why it matters. As I look forward to the future, I hope that this site becomes a welcome place at the table. Thanks for being with us. Thanks for caring. And thanks for staying with us while we become the kind of organization that we are meant to be.

When Digital Spaces Stop Being Safe
The internet changed childhood forever. It opened doors for creativity, community, and connection. But it also opened doors for people who exploit children in ways families never anticipated. Parents juggle work, school, and life. They trust platforms that appear safe, believing that built-in controls and “kid friendly” labels shield their children from harm. But what happens when safety systems give a false sense of security?

Words Matter When Harm Is Involved
Words shape how we understand responsibility. When trafficking-related terms are misused or misunderstood, victims are harmed and accountability becomes inconsistent. This post explores why legal definitions matter, what statistics tell us about the scale of trafficking globally and in the U.S., why misuse damages victims, and how survivor-informed education depends on clarity.

When Victims Speak and No One Listens
Coming forward as a victim of exploitation takes extraordinary courage. When those voices are dismissed, ignored, or sidelined, the harm does not end. It deepens. This post explores the emotional and systemic impact of not being heard, why trust in institutions erodes when accountability fails, and why survivor-centered systems are essential to preventing future harm.
